Who Run The World?
Today started off as a very good day. Got up, got dressed, picked up my neighbor and started Sanders Optimum Fitness boot camp - Week 2. Our warm up was a walk/jog/sprint to get in our first mile. Pheewwww I'm used to that later on in the session! It was good though - I never walk now because I will never catch up if I do. We did ...
Featured Fitale Marquita Taylor
I have always been bigger than my peers. In middle school I was the first girl to have to wear a bra and I failed gym class in high-school because of my disinterest in physical activity outside of the sport of competitive swimming. The need to be well changed my life. So many times African-American women attribute our “assets” to genetics ...
Day 3 Boot Camp – DRINK MY SWEAT!
Arrived at boot camp late ya'll. They had already started the 1-mile, 10-minute jog as I was putting down my stuff. Something told me they were going to warm us up with running in the Sanders Optimum Fitness Boot Camp so I prepared and already had my earphones and iPod shuffle hooked up ready to pop in my ears so I dropped my bag and TOOK ...
My Treadmill, My Friend
My husband set aside the unfinished area of our basement as our home gym. We have equipped it with a lot of stuff so if we chose to, we could workout downstairs vs. having to get in our cards and trek on over to the gym. One of my most favorite pieces of equipment is my Proform 785SS treadmill. I purchased it back when we lived in a town ...
Boot Camp, Green Smoothies OH MY!
It's April 8th and we started off the April boot camp session today! Wow, what a difference a week off makes! I didn't really have an entire week off. I did continue going to the gym, doing the stepmill and working on my cardio but this stuff never ever really compares to a boot camp session. BUT I got it in and got through it. We did ...
SMASHED!
I made PROGRESS! My endurance has definitely improved. I did the 30-minute Oxygen Stepmill Workout today and SMASHED IT!!!!! I mean I got through it without having to adjust any of the speed OR feeling like I was going to fly off the back. That is progress in my book! I credit the Sanders Optimum Fitness Boot Camp for that progress ...
Oxygen Stepmill Routine – Taming The Beast
Back in November 2011 I got hooked on the stepmill. It is a great way to work those glutes, hamstrings, and quads. It is also exhausting and really gets the heart rate up there. For that - I need to renew my love for the stepmill. I've been away far too long. This routine I found in my November 2011 issue of Oxygen Magazine (perfect ...
It’s April – Did You Vote Yet?
I entered a contest at the beginning of March that lasts until May 31st. It is a contest (Social Treadmill Challenge) at my gym, Brick Bodies, and I am really trying to win. Right now I am in second place with 404 votes and trying to take over first but it is an uphill climb.

Fitbit Craze
I recently posted a question on the Femme Fitale Fit Club public Facebook page asking everyone their favorite fitness app. Unanimously folks came back stating they love their Fitbit device and app. That of course raised my curiosity so I started lookin around. My husband did mention Fitbit to me as a way to track your sleep pattern to ...

I am so proud of myself. I finally a Zumba class!!! Yes, yup....I know - what took me so long? I have heard a lot about this thing called Zumba since ohhhhh 2008! I had a co-worker take the class and tell me she thought I would love it and I should try it. Five years later and I finally took her up on it.

I have worked really hard to share amazing transformation stories with all of you. The ladies who have been featured are nothing short of AMAZING! In all of this I failed to take a look in the mirror at my own progress. It is slow but steady and I could not have done it without the support of my loving husband and amazing friends! I have a ...

Today was the last day of boot camp for me for the March session. It was tough I ain't gon' lie. We did the dreadful squats across the gym, walking lunges with shoulder presses and then these shuffle squats! OOOOCCHHH!
We had some awards today which I always enjoy because it is a time when the boot camp recognizes some of its clients for ...

No Excuses #Workout
Sometimes you have to be flexible and that is just what I was this morning. My trainer needed to move my time so I met her bright and early at 5:00 am today. Well it actually wasn't that bright - it was PITCH BLACK but I showed up rearing to go. I got there before they even unlocked the doors. Below is the workout of the day. No excuses ...

Where Have You Been All My Life – Polar FT4 Review
If you have been following this blog you know I had an HRM I used that gave me less than stellar results. You would also know I have been participating in boot camp since like August 2012 and am still in my last session (I plan to take a break for April). Anywho - based on reading so many other pages and posts, I finally found a heart ...

Check My Heart Beat
I am more than excited. I finally purchased my first Polar HRM to monitor my heart rate while working out. YIPPEE for me! This may not seem like such a big deal but it IS because I have had trouble in the past finding a dependable yet simple HRM to use during my workouts. Quite honestly - the only time I used it was when I was running...
