What is Vertigo
Vertigo is a sensation of the surroundings teetering off balance as if the world were spinning. One moment a person with vertigo could be fine so he/she reaches down to simply tie shoes; when they stand back up the room is moving in circles.
It can result in nausea, dizziness, and possibly even vomiting. The result isn’t pretty: extreme dizziness, nausea, and vomiting are the usual symptoms. It happens when those tiny crystals inside your inner ear which regulate your balance become dislodged.
Rules of Thumb
Here are a few simple rules of thumb as you walk through your workout so you don’t aggravate your vertigo:
- No sudden movements up or down, front to back or side to side
- Keep your head above your heart
- No prone or supine position exercises
- Move slowly between exercises
- Avoid tilting your head
Be sure to keep your body temperature regulated and feed your muscles by sipping water throughout your workout. Water keeps your body hydrated because of the water lost through sweat.
It will also help you last longer throughout the workout.
