FFFC:  Please introduce yourself to our readers (i.e. your name, occupation, hobbies.

SR:  My name is Susie Romans and I am a mother, wife and founder of StayAtHomeSusie.com. I believe in positive lifestyle habits and the passion it takes to pursue your ideal lifestyle, put family first and pursue good health.

FFFC:  What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

SR: Becoming a mother, and feeling like I had lost a part of myself in the process. I didn’t want to “give up” on my health or my confidence.

FFFC: What was your beginning and current weight or measurements?

SR: Start: 162 lbs

End: 122 lbs

FFFC: How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from beginning to end?

SR: 4 months

FFFC: What physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

SR: ZUMBA and long walks!

FFFC: How did your eating habits change?

SR: I cut our all cheese, mayo and sugary drinks. I stuck to grilled chicken , veggies and whole grains.

FFFC: What is your favorite fitness activity?

SR: Dancing! It makes you feel confident and silly too! Time just flies by and next thing you know you’ve got a good heart rate going.

FFFC: What do you do now to maintain your physique?

SR: I eat 5 small meals each day. I drink lots of water and 2 cups of coffee to keep my metabolism and energy levels high.

FFFC: How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the bad stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?

SR: I let myself have 2-3 bites of any sweet treat. It’s all about portion control and not about restriction. I will have a 90 calorie Twix or 2 bite brownie. But I know after that small taste, I AM DONE. I’ve learned to accept the bite size treats it helps me from bingeing on sugary foods.

FFFC: What advice do you have for someone starting out on their weight-loss journey but unsure of how to begin?

SR: I am not a medical doctor but here is what  I suggest:

  • No soda. No juice. You can drink water with lemons, water with oranges, water with Truvia or coffee.
  • Start a food journal or diary. Write down everything you eat in a day. Everything!
  • Begin understanding calories, just Google foods or recipes or look at the Nutrition labels.
  • Try to eat 1400 calories per day.
  • Dont worry about the gym. Try doing things like taking break at work to walk to the water cooler. Walk to your car.
  • Dance at home with your kids. They love dancing!
  • Write down a goal weight and hang it on the fridge.

FFFC: What do you think is the biggest misconception about this journey?

SR: Women think losing weight is soooo hard, it’s not. People try to remove all their favorites foods and expect to succeed. Go slow, make small changes and learn how to eat to live.

FFFC: How can readers learn more about your transformation and journey online (i.e. facebook, tumblr, twitter, etc.)?
