3 Things You Need to Power Through a Powerhouse Workout

3 Things You Need to Power Through a Powerhouse Workout

What is going on Fitness Family?  I’m back with another powerful workout but first let me share some top tips that will help you power through this workout and beyond.

Get Enough Rest

In order to get through a challenging workout you must have had enough rest.  Meaning, it is dangerous to try and start a tough workout and you haven’t had adequate sleep or you haven’t given your body enough time to rest before taxing it again.  Both situations can lead to strains, pulls, lackluster and ineffective workouts or injury.  You definitely don’t want that.  You want to be on top of your strength game at all times.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

You are setting yourself up for failure if you aren’t staying hydrated and drinking enough liquids during your workout.  Plain water is just fine especially if you are exercising no longer than 1 hour.  If you are going extra long and over 60 minutes, drinking something with electrolytes is a great option to replenish what you’re losing.  Either way, want to be able to push and pull that heavy weight?  Drink your water.

Fuel Up

I can’t tell you how many times people attempt a workout on an empty stomach and have a hard time getting through it.  That’s because they didn’t fuel up beforehand.  That’s not fun.  You don’t need to eat much, just put something on your stomach.

Quest Nutrition protein bars

I highly recommend the Quest Nutrition protein bars.  They are delicious, contain no soy, are gluten free, and vegetarian friendly.    Check out all of the flavors they come in (Cookies and Cream is my absolute best)

• Chocolate Chip Cookie

• Cookies & Cream

• Blueberry Muffin

• Oatmeal Chocolate Chip

• Apple Pie

• Cinnamon Roll

• Chocolate Peanut Butter

• Double Chocolate Chunk

• Mint Chocolate Chunk

• White Chocolate Raspberry

• S’mores

• Chocolate Brownie

Quest Nutrition protein bars in Target basket

Each bar has at least 20 grams of protein, 13-15 grams of fiber, 170 to 210 calories and no added sugar.  I eat these before my workouts and they help me feel full, strong and fueled up.  I recommend you eat one bar about 30 minutes before you start your intense workout.

If you want to pick up some bars for yourself head over to your local Target store and go down the Health and Nutrition aisle to get your boxes.  You can also order them online HERE.

Awesome video! The Quest bars look great too. I always struggle with the rest – if my kids aren’t jumping on me first thing in the morning, it’s the dog licking my face, haha!
