Why Rest Is Important For Effective Weight Loss

why rest is important for effective weight loss

Disclaimer:  I was provided a complimentary Queen-size mattress by OSO Sleep for the purposes of this review.  All opinions are my own.

I’m asked constantly by my readers and Femme Fitale Fit Club members how to lose weight.  Many say they know all they need to do is eat right, drink plenty of water and exercise and they do that but still aren’t seeing weight loss results.

What is glaringly obvious to me is that they are missing this one very vital component to the weight loss equation – REST.  Working out and eating right is definitely important but if you aren’t properly resting your body then you are counteracting all of the other good things you are doing to stay healthy.

Watch what I have to say:

Here are some key reasons why rest is important for effective weight loss.

Reason #1:  Sleep is important for muscle growth

The body repairs, rebuilds, replaces and regenerates while at rest.  So rest is extremely important for results.  Building more muscle actually helps burn more fat at rest which will help you drop more excess weight.  Working out 7 days a week or getting inadequate rest does more harm than good.  Don’t skip rest days.  Your body needs it.

Reason #2:  Lack of sleep makes you hungry

Staying up late produces the hunger hormone ghrelin which causes people to grab the highly processed food stuffed with a bunch of transfat, sugar and salt which all promotes weight gain.

Reason #3:  Minimal sleep makes you stress out

Lack of sleep produces the stress hormone cortisol which supports unhealthy waist lines and weight gain.

Reason #4:  When you are asleep you aren’t eating

Opposite of #2, getting adequate rest helps prevent you from overeating because your body is fasting overnight and not consuming calories.  You are actually burning calories.

Reason #5:  More rest = more energy

Getting sufficient rest means you have more energy to burn the next day for longer periods of time because you aren’t tired or sluggish which helps you lose weight

Now that you know the weight loss benefits of proper rest the next step is to make sure you have a quality mattress to sleep on.  A good mattress supports proper posture and helps eliminate muscle imbalances which can lead to injury.

I was sent a complimentary Queen mattress by OSO to review and my experience with the mattress was great.

This mattress is unique because it is firm and soft at the same time.  If your neck and shoulders prefer a firmer support then all you have to do is rotate the mattress 180 degrees to position the firm side towards your upper body.

The OSO mattress is designed to support the areas of the body where most folks need it – shoulders, lower back and hips.

The mattress provides a good nights sleep which is excellent for your health and well being.  One thing I found very unique about it was how it arrived, rolled into a box.  I’ve never seen that before but it was cool.

It was easy to cut the box and pull the mattress out and lay it on the bed frame flat … easy breezy.

The mattress is made with top notch materials which are dust mite-resistant, skin friendly textiles and no off-gassing material which is a great choice for someone with allergies.

The OSO mattress is only available online so the price you see is the price. There’s no haggling or pesky salespeople.  You simply go online, order your mattress and wait for it to arrive.  Did I mention the shipping is free?  That makes mattress buying so much easier.
