I just learned that May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. This was started back in 1983 by the President’s Council on fitness as an effort to promote healthy lifestyles to the American people. You can imagine I am excited about this month for several reasons:
1. It’s centered around physical fitness which is the primary purpose of this blog
2. It’s very timely since Summer is coming
3. May is a great month with typically great weather and sunshine here on the East Coast
4. It is a dedicated month for the United States to focus on fitness
5. I get to celebrate this month by posting more articles on fitness to further encourage and inspire you all – YIPPEE!
To that end there are two major physical fitness events happening – one locally here in Baltimore, Maryland and the other worldwide online that I want to share with each of you.

If you enjoy running or walking outdoors you won’t want to miss the Torchbearer 5K/1.5 mile fun Walk fundraiser hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Bring the family out to make this an entire family affair and enjoy some good fellowship in the process.

I have already registered myself and can’t wait to participate. Druid Hills Park is known for its DREADED HILLS but that just means I get to build my glutes. I hope to see you out there. If you plan to register leave a comment so I know to look out for you when I arrive.
The next event you may be interested to participate in this month is the Sanders Optimum Fitness online boot camp. If you have been reading this blog then you know I am down for the cause with this boot camp. It has helped me in many ways including building up my endurance, helping me burn fat AND meeting a great group of people I now workout with outside of camp. And if you have been reading about it here and wishing you can participate – NOW YOU CAN. Starting May 5th they have an online boot camp you can access anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection.

I’ve never even heard of this before! But I guess it’s good timing, because I’m joining in an exercise program which involved 30 minutes of working out every day in May!
