FFFC:  Please introduce yourself to our readers.

PS:  Hello, ladies!  My name is Pia Sterling and I’m a certified holistic health coach who supports busy professionals in living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.  My role is comparable to a personal trainer or life coach. I provide clients with tools and insights that will result in permanent and peaceful lifestyle changes.  In addition to being a health coach,  I love spending quality time with family and friends, exercising at the gym or practicing yoga at a neighborhood studio.  I also enjoy traveling, so you can easily find me at the closest airport preparing to explore another city, state or country.

FFFC:  How did you get interested in health and wellness?

PS:  Wow.  That’s a great question. For as long as I can remember health and wellness has been in my presence.  I would say at around 7 or 8 years old, I went with my mom as she toured and ultimately enrolled in her first gym.  (Now, my mom is nearly 70 years old and still attends a gym and includes exercise into her life.  Go Mommy!!) Around that same time, we use to jump rope together in our backyard.  As a child, it was fun to jump rope with Mommy and tag-along with her as she enrolled in her first gym, but little did I know she was sending subliminal messages to me as to the importance of staying physically active.

From my youth to adulthood my approach to health and wellness has shifted and evolved based on my life’s journey. As a child I exercised because it was fun and I saw others around me remaining physically active. As I entered  young adulthood, I exercised and became conscious of my food choices because it was good for my body (and I must admit I liked the body toning transformations, lol).  And now, I exercise, choose my food wisely and tap into my daily thoughts because it enhances my overall energy and spirit.

Over 15 years ago, armed with a MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I accepted a job offer to start my marketing career in NYC at JPMorgan Chase. As I worked hard to build my reputation and brand in the financial services industry, I began to lose sight of maintaining a “healthy lifestyle”. I often worked 16 hour-days, ate carb-loaded lunches, nibbled on sugary snacks, and experienced sleepless nights all in the name of advancing my career and living the NYC life.  Fortunately, while I was advancing professionally, I was introduced to the world of alternative healing.  I met with my first naturopathic doctor who shared with me the importance of incorporating stress release strategies, whole foods and vegetables into my fast-paced life.  And, from that initial introduction, I became a student of alternative healing and decided that the best way for me to support myself and others would be to become trained as a certified holistic health coach.

FFFC:  What prompted you to do this to help others?

PS:  I was driven to do this work based on observing the lifestyle that I created while living and working in NYC for 10 years.  NYC is an amazingly, colorful and rich city that offers endless opportunities to grow, work and play. But as I stretched myself professionally and personally, I started to see a compromise in my fast-paced lifestyle that I was creating and the sustainable , healthy lifestyle that I wanted.  So, as I began to make shifts and eventually earned my health coaching certificate, I noticed there were an abundance of opportunities to help other working professionals, just like myself.

FFFC:  What do you like most about what you do?

PS:  The most fascinating aspect of what I do is that as I help others to heal, I continue to heal, grow and learn more about myself. The law of attraction and reciprocity is beautiful.  My clients are my best teachers. They are the ones who continue to motivate and encourage me by through their in-depth inquiries and transformations during our time together.

FFFC:  What is your most favorite aspect of what you do?

PS:  The favorite aspect of what I do is being a change agent and advocate for pursing a healthy lifestyle.  Nurturing fertile ground for a healthy lifestyle is contagious.  Look how this wonderful network of change agents has grown. Go Diatta!!  Each of you is taking steps to change your lifestyle and I know you can name someone in your circle of friends and family who’s encouraged to change based on your changes.

FFFC:  What do you consider the most useful wellness tool?

PS:  Listen, listen and listen to your body for everything that you do and for whatever you want to do. Your body never lies and it sticks closer to you than your BFF.  The best way to get connected to your body is through a clean gut.  A clean, working digestive system can help you make clean, life decisions. Don’t underestimate the wise tale: “I have a gut feeling!”

FFFC:  What do you think is the biggest misconception about this field and the professionals in it?

PS:  I am an eternal optimist, so I feel that health and wellness is becoming mainstream.  I just read an article in the New York Times that chia seeds are now available in major supermarket chains. Chia seeds are a great source for energy as they are loaded with fiber and Omega-3. It can be easily added to oatmeal, blended into smoothies/vegetable drinks and sprinkled on yogurt.

FFFC:  What general tips do you have for the average woman balancing family, career with health and fitness?

PS:  Life is not a race, it’s a journey. Make small steps in shifting your approach to health and wellness. Integrate healthy lifestyle   options that make sense for you and your family. (And, if you are a single woman, select the options that fit into the life priorities/goals that you’ve set for yourself.)  Once you find the recipe that works for you, work at it, until it becomes a way of life. (And, your way is unique for you and you only!) Give yourself time to bask in your accomplishments. If you were able to exercise, eat organically and meditate for 3 out of 5 days, celebrate your success. Honor that accomplishment by journaling the experience, soaking in a lavender bath, connecting with a friend, spouse, significant other to share the experience, etc. We all know how to love ourselves through “retail therapy”  which can potentially overshadow your true experience and result in more stress when the credit card bill is due.

FFFC:  Do you have any special events or conferences where our readers can hear you speak?

PS:  As events and conference are planned, I will keep this group posted on event details.

FFFC:  How can our readers find you on the web or inquire about your services?

PS:  Ladies, you can find more about the work I do by visiting www.prosperous-living.net or giving me a call at 917-751-6702.  I welcome the opportunity to arrange a FREE consultation for us to discuss how I can support your growth and transformation.

The truth is, at times, men do not have enough
testosterone. This information focuses on the appearance and the kind of dinosaur
that the egg came from. Rather they are just simple tasks that would not need super human intelligence or talent.
