Losing weight can be one of the most frustrating things a person can do: sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t lose that extra weight you want or need to. There can be several reasons for this, but there’s also a good chance you aren’t doing the proper exercises to lose the weight.
The good news is that there are two simple exercises that you can try that will have you seeing better results after just a few weeks. Pushups and pull ups are classic exercises that benefit you by helping you burn calories and lose weight as well as increase your strength.
And the best part you don’t need a lot of equipment, all you need is a pull-up bar and you’re good to go.
The best thing about this exercise is you don’t need to spend a lot of money on gym memberships or equipment. One pull up bar that is either a standalone or one that fits in a doorway is perfect for getting the most you can out of the exercise.
Pulls ups are known as a “compound” exercise because it focuses on several muscle groups which burns more calories because multiple muscles are working together. Pull ups focus on your biceps, triceps, latissimus dorsi (the back), deltoids and trapezius muscles and even benefits your core muscles like the rectus abdominis and obliques.
Just a small set of pull-ups a day, around 25 or so, will burn about 100 calories. Who doesn’t want that?
You may be challenged to complete them at first, but keep practicing and you’ll soon be doing as many pull-ups as you want and losing weight at the same time.

There may be no exercise that is more popular than push ups. Anyone can do them and they require no extra equipment at all.
The reason push ups are good is that you burn calories quickly and you focus on the larger muscles in your upper body. Push ups give you a good workout for your pectorals, deltoids, biceps, and triceps and help tone your entire upper body. If you do push ups properly, you will also strengthen your core, making you more physically stable overall.
You will also increase your overall muscle strength. This will allow you to burn more calories.

Don’t Forget to Eat Right
While these classic exercises will help you lose weight, you must also eat right.
Avoid eating too many foods that contain processed sugars, like sweets, soda and cookies. Eat lean proteins like chicken and fish and always try to eat several fruits and vegetables a day.

Great post! I absolutely LOVE pull ups. I can remember only being able to do two or three – now I can do 20! It’s amazing how quickly pull ups strengthen your upper body.
