Before and After Statistics

I’m 5’7
Before weight 235 lbs
After weight 165 lbs
Total weight loss: 70 lbs
What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

Throughout my teenage years and early adulthood, I consistently maintained a slender build. Nevertheless, after marrying and having given children, I underwent substantial physical changes, resulting in significant weight gain, from 165lbs to 214 following the birth of my last child.
Consequently, I began experiencing knee and back issues that affected my daily activities. The diagnosis of pre-diabetes prompted me to undertake a complete transformation of my lifestyle.
How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from beginning to end?
At the beginning of my most recent weight loss journey, I lost 67 pounds in just three months. With continued lifestyle changes, I shed a few more pounds, bringing my total weight loss to 70 pounds. I achieved this naturally, without any medications or surgeries.
Which physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

I had the opportunity to work with Louis Brown, a distinguished boxing coach and owner of Mo Better Boxing Gym in Houston, TX. Through his expert guidance, I undertook intensive conditioning and boxing drills, and workouts, spanning three to four hours daily.
How did your eating habits change?
I committed to a daily regimen of drinking a gallon of spring water, maintaining a calorie deficit, and closely monitoring my total carbs and net carbs intake, for every meal and snack.
What do you do now to maintain your physique?

Maintaining my physical appearance involves controlling my portions and staying active. Moreover, I avoid resting immediately after consuming food, acknowledging that this is not a healthy.
I now consume smaller portions compared to my previous habits. Historically, I overfilled my plate, but presently, I meticulously measure and weigh my meat and vegetable servings. When a scale is unavailable, I recall that a standard serving size of meat should approximate the size of a fist, and similarly for other foods. routine.
My nine and eleven year old boys’ energetic nature keeps me active daily. I love the elliptical machine, as it provides a smooth, gliding motion that is gentle on my back and knees.
To maintain a consistent pace, I listen to upbeat soca and calypso music while exercising. I also indulge in heavy weight lifting about two times a week.My objective is to exercise at least four days a week, although I aspire to increase the frequency of my workouts.
How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the bad stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?

To resist unhealthy temptations, I chose nutritious snacks, including green grapes, small strawberries, and protein bars with a maximum of 14 grams of protein. These snacks were sufficiently sweet to curb my cravings while promoting overall well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
For breakfast 1 usually eat a slice of 40-calorie toast with a small amount of low fat margarine (I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter), 4 oz of skim milk, ten green grapes or twelve small strawberries.
I may eat a protein bar with 14 grams of protein midmorning for a snack. For lunch, 6 oz of chicken breast, (or 4 oz beef, 5 oz tilapia) 1/2 cup of a cooked vegetable and 1 cup of a raw vegetable.
I would plan to have another protein bar or shake as a snack, with a protein content not exceeding 14 grams, and a piece of fruit.
For dinner, I will follow the same meal pattern as lunch, substituting different protein sources, vegetables, and a starch, such as 1/2 cup of brown rice or 1/2 small baked potato. My goal is to drink 80 oz of water daily. I do not consume soda regularly, restricting myself to one glass of clear diet soda per day, if needed, and preferring crystal light packages in my water with a squeeze of lemon. I exclude fruit drinks from my diet.
What advice do you have for someone looking to get started with their fitness journey but not sure where to begin?
My recommendation for someone embarking on a weight loss journey is to remain patient and avoid comparing their progress with others, as individual body compositions can vary significantly, leading to differing rates of weight loss. In the event of setbacks, perseverance is key; some progress, no matter how minimal, is superior to none. Ultimately, achieving weight loss goals takes time.
