B.Michavery Before And After

FFFC:  Please introduce yourself to our readers (i.e. your name, occupation, hobbies, etc.).

BM:  I am B.Michavery and I am founder of the T.a.t.o.o (Talking about things others oppose) Campaign which is an organization geared towards uplifting and encouraging individuals to be better versions of themselves. Ive produced documentaries, currently writing a book, and I have weekly motivational classes that I offer advice, encouragement etc. regarding different situations. I love helping people and just being an overall inspiration to people in life in general.

FFFC:  What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

BM:  My weight loss journey began about 1 year and ahalf ago. I just wasn’t feeling good. I mean I have always been confident but I wasn’t feeling I was my best version of myself. How could I continue to be in front of people pushing them to be Extraordinary and I wasn’t quite living up to that. My family has a history of diabetes and I lost my Father at the age of 47 who also was diabetic. And I loved my father with everything in me, and I knew the hurt we felt when he died so I didn’t want that to happen to me. I wanted to change my life inwardly most importantly because outwardly everything was good, however I knew it could be better.

FFFC:  What was your beginning and current weight or measurements?

BM:  My beginning weight was 203 pounds,  that was my heaviest.  I am now 167 pounds. I have about 15-20 more pounds to go until I reach my “Ideal “ goal weight, however I am extremely happy with the transition thus far.

FFFC:  How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from beginning to end?

BM:  The process was from November 2012 to December 2013. It would have been much sooner but I wanted to take my time and really do it the healthy way. I wanted to work hard at it and allow the transition to take place and actually savor the moment. I didn’t want to lose almost 40 pounds and pop up looking sick, haha. Healthy transition and lifestyle changes over a year’s time.

FFFC:  What physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

BM:  I worked out 3/5 days a week, started out in 30 minute increments    w/ treadmill mostly. Then added in more time and toning, ab work etc. I joined a gym because I could say all day long I will work out at home, but the motivation was not there, it was much easier to do other things. So I knew paying for a membership would force me or at least hold me more accountable because I’m spending money.

FFFC:  How did your eating habits change?

BM:  Oh it was hard…But I had to change my thought process, and my relationship with food. The excuses of it being more convenient to eat fast food oppose to preparing my food, everything started with the thinking process. Then I began researching juicing, other health recipes, and started having fun with preparing healthy food. I started eating more of a vegetarian/vegan and organic foods before I realized it was called that. I just started liking eating healthy and found that the healthier I ate the better I felt and the better I looked, from my skin, my hair, nails, teeth everything, just was better. And my energy levels became amazing also.

FFFC:  What do you typically eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

BM:  To be honest I hate breakfast. Lol maybe because my day starts at 5 am so I hate eating that early. So I set myself a schedule, I eat every 2 hours starting at 8am and eat nothing after 6pm, and I’m in bed by 9pm. Breakfast is normally, a breakfast smoothie, w/fruit, low fat yogurt w/gluten free granola,  some turkey sausage , Oatmeal / side of fruit, something light, But before I eat I drink a bottle of water, that helps make not over eat( or maybe I think it does) Of course all this is in variety not all at one sitting J. Lunch is my largest meal, either a salad I make at home, some veggies, green tea, tuna fish, etc. something very clean, if I am eating some form of meat, it will be grilled chicken prepared at home, in olive oil with fresh herbs, or baked fish prepared the same way, I like fresh herbs because its more natural and the flavors are better w/ less salt, plus you can never use too much. Dinner time is , either a juice( veggie juice I prepare) or smoothie, some fruit, another small  salad etc. or I finish whatever I didn’t eat for lunch I finish at dinner.  This is usually after I work out at night for recovery.  For snacks in between it’s mostly fruit, or dried honey nut cheerios, or carrots, cucumbers or something like that.

FFFC:  What is your favorite fitness activity?

BM:  I have such a love hate relationship with running the treadmill and squats lol. But I seem to love that the most. Running works everything!

FFFC:  What do you do now to maintain your physique?

BM:  I stick to a 80/20 rule. 80% of my life consists of healthy eating and working out. The other 20% is for moderation type foods, like I don’t deprive myself from eating the things I use to love! I have grown to not love them so much, so I eat maybe something I wouldn’t normally eat or drink 20% of the time. Like if im at a gathering or if I go out to eat w/friends or an event. I don’t deprive myself. I don’t overdo it though. But it does teach you self-control. 1 meal doesn’t make you overweight just like 1 healthy one doesn’t make you healthy. Moderation/consistency is Key.

FFFC:  How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the bad stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?

BM:  I keep a photo of who I was up on my vision board. A visual of what you don’t want to ever be again does it! Even though I loved that person, I know she was not healthy and I don’t ever want to be in that situation where its too late to fix whatever healthy issue or weight issue there is. I don’t want to develop an issue before I realize I want to fix it. My willpower isn’t to be skinny that keeps me focused, cause that can change with the mood or the circumstance; it’s my will to live a full, healthy, successful life that keeps me going.

FFFC:  What advice do you have for someone starting out on their weight-loss journey but unsure of how to begin?

BM:  Set your pace, and don’t measure your progress by the scale alone! Its takes time and don’t get discouraged if you are not progressing as fast as someone else. Create a vision board and set monthly goals oppose to weekly weight goals. Measure inches, and stay focused. Don’t feel bad if you slip just keep going. Hold yourself accountable for your journey, its more than physical appearance, its inwardly transition taking place as well.

FFFC:  What do you think is the biggest misconception about this journey?

BM:  That it’s easy w/ quick results and Everyone’s journey is the same.

FFFC:  Do you have any fitness idols?  Who are they?

BM:  Yes I love a lady by the name of Suanny she is on Instagram and follows me on Twitter, she is a vegan and has the most amazing body! She is someone who when I first started I found her and I wanted her abs. lol Jeanette Jenkins also she is a celebrity fitness trainer and she is incredible.  Plus I follow tons of different blogs with amazing food recipes for healthy eating etc.

FFFC:  How can readers learn more about your transformation and journey online (i.e. Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.)?

BM:  My Blog Officialtatoocampaign.com has everything, from my journey, weightloss, instructions on vision boards etc. I love my own blog, as much as others seem to. J My Instagram is BmichaveryJ, FaceBook and Twitter B.Michavery.
