FFF Challenge #8: No Alcohol Of Any Kind

We are now beginning with challenge #8.  I told you this will start to get more challenging so hold on to your barbells!

Drum roll please…………..this week’s challenge is:

No alcoholic beverage of any kind Monday – Friday

Anyone who knows me knows I enjoy a tasty bottle of dry white wine  Chardonnay is my wine of preference and I enjoy bottles with twist off tops as well as high-priced vino.

On the flip side – white wine has also stalled the results I have been seeking when it comes to definition and flat and firm abs.  My children are too old to continue to blame it on them.

Why does alcohol thwart workout progress?  Because it turns into sugar and when you are performing calorie-burning activity your body is burning sugar over the fat which is what is needed to see real results.

Diet & Lifestyle Tips for a Tighter Tummy!” by Tracey Greenwood, Ph.D.

Boozing Leads to Belly Fat

Have you seen people who are thin except for their beer bellies sticking out? Well that is the effect of excess alcohol consumption. Alcohol contains “empty” calories, which means it doesn’t contain any nutrients. All of the energy consumed through alcohol will be stored as abdominal fat.

A study performed at the University of Buffalo examined the type of alcohol consumed and its correlation to the accumulation of abdominal fat. Their findings showed that wine drinkers showed the lowest abdominal obesity, while liquor drinkers had the highest central adiposity.

And even with wine drinkers having the lowest abdominal obesity – who wants ANY obesity?  Not me so hopefully many of you will find this challenge refreshing.
