Please introduce yourself to our readers (i.e. your name, occupation, hobbies, etc.).

Hey everyone, I’m Ginelle! I’m an Internal Auditor in the restaurant industry in Dallas and I enjoy having margaritas and crawfish on the patio whenever the sun is shining!

What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

I actually began working out back in January 2013 as a New Year’s Resolution-er! But with life and over the years I became less consistent and gained back my weight.

In October 2018 I decided to jump back in full speed and I hired a Training Coach (@beastmodejones) to get me back to looking and feeling my best.

What was your beginning and current weight or measurements?

I started at 218 in October 2018, and I’m now at 190 in May 2019.

How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from beginning to end?

My most recent transformation started in October 2018, but it’s a never ending process! Living a healthier lifestyle is just that, a lifestyle.

Which physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

My training program includes heavy weight lifting and definitely cardio! I enjoy trying out different circuits and exercises for cardio so that it doesn’t get repetitive and boring.

How did your eating habits change?

I definitely learned to eat more balanced meals (protein, carbs, fat) to ensure my body has the proper nutrients to thrive. I also learned how and where to fit in treats to keep me happy.

What do you typically eat for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner?

Breakfast is usually something quick like eggs and turkey bacon or a protein shake/bar. For lunches and dinner I eat a balance of proteins, carbs, fats and include fruits and vegetables when I can.

Protein: shrimp, boneless skinless chicken thighs, salmon, tuna

Carbs (and veggies): roasted red potatoes, sweet potatoes, jasmine rice, cauliflower, green beans, brussels sprouts

Fats: avocado, nuts, peanut butter

I also make sure to have snacks on hand like turkey jerky, protein bars, protein snacks, or cheese.

What is your favorite fitness activity?

I absolutely love lifting heavy weights! Right now I’m up to a 205 lb squat!

What do you do now to maintain your physique?

I’m continuing to lift weights, get my cardio in, and eat balanced meals.

How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the bad stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?

I actually believe it’s important to work in some of the “bad” stuff to keep yourself happy and sane! Treating myself to a cookie here and there ensures that I stay on track with my other more healthy meals.

What advice do you have for someone looking to get started with their fitness journey but not sure where to begin?

My biggest piece of advice would be to focus more on completing your workouts for the week and sticking with your meal plan instead of obsessing about the number on the scale! If you focus more on completing everything you’re supposed to do, the weight loss will come!

What do you think is the biggest misconception about this journey?

I think the biggest misconception about weight loss is that you have to eat zero carbs to lose weight. I eat a good balance of rice and potatoes in my meals and I’ve lost weight! It is all about fueling your body to run efficiently.

Do you have any fitness inspirations?  Who are they?

I follow so many incredible women on Instagram that are killing it in the gym, but a couple favorites are @thequii_tofitness and @goldenfitnic
