De Bolton

Please introduce yourself to our readers (i.e. your name, occupation, hobbies, etc.).

My name is De Bolton. I am a Wife to my best friend of 16 years and husband for 13 years, mother to three little divas ages 12, 8 and 2. Fitness and Exercise Science Major and Blogger.

What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

This is my third weightloss journey all started from gaining way too much weight during and after pregnancy with each of my daughters. I gained 95 lbs with my first; 85 lb with my second and then 75lbs with my third and then an additional 30 lbs postpartum. I suffered from postpartum depression and high anxiety. After one day getting winded from climbing the stairs in our house and other emotional set backs, I finally stopped feeling sorry and forced myself to do better. It’s been an uphill battle ever since. What were your beginning and current weight or measurements?

I began my weight loss at 206 lbs. Now, I am currently 138 pounds.

How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from start to end?

My weight loss journey began August 4, 2015, and I am still on a fitness journey. I have aspirations to compete as a Figure Competitor in July or August 2017. So, about two years.
Which physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

Each weight loss journey I did something different..my first I took every class the YMCA had to offer to ate very little and trained six days a week. My second weight loss I ran it off, pounding the pavement five days a week sometimes up to 4 miles a day.  This time I began a spiritual and weightlifting journey to better myself from the inside out.

How did your eating habits change?

In the last three years, I’ve gone from a drive-thru junkie to a clean eating phenom. Only eating nutrient dense food following the 80/20 rule for indulgence. I also practice intermittent fasting daily and carb cycling every 6-8 weeks for two weeks at a time. What do you typically eat for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner?

Eggs and veggies whether it’s an omelet, scrambled, frittata or fried. Lunch I usually do fish and veggies because it’s quick and nutritious. For dinner, we usually focus on  protein and produce. Stir fries are quick, easy and usually on the meal plan. What is your favorite fitness activity?

 I love to Dance
De Bolton
What do you do now to maintain your physique?
I lift weights three days a week in the gym for an hour and I do functional exercise training at home 1-2 days a week and I include Metabolic Conditioning 2-3 times per week as well.
How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the wrong stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?
Prayer, a really good “Why?” and at this point, it’s a lifestyle change. We don’t keep junk in the house. When we want to indulge we go get it. Practice proper portion control and I drink lots of water.
What advice do you have for someone looking to get started with their fitness journey but not sure where to begin?

Do something you’ve always been curious about something that you’ll potentially love.  I see people start going to the gym because they think that’s what they’re supposed to do because that’s what everyone else is doing and they hate it and quit. This is your journey, and you get to make up the rules.  Do something that is going to have you excited to go back again.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about this journey?

It’s instant, easy and there is a quick fix. Reversing damage done to your body is not instant, easy or quick once you get that out of your head and prepare for the long journey you’ll set yourself up for greater success.

Do you have any fitness inspirations?  Who are they?

My Fitness Inspirations isn’t a well named Instagram Fitness model or someone I see on tv. My fitness inspirations are women who stopped settling for the easy way out and are making steps daily towards their goals. I love when people message me there trying a new meal or exercise they decided to go for a walk; effort inspires me.

How can readers learn more about your transformation and journey online (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)?

You can begin at www.FaithFueledMoms.com I’m pretty much everywhere on Social media but the central location to find all of my social media channels http://faithfueledmoms.com/faithfueled-social-media/
