Urban Remedy One-Day Juice Cleanse Review

Urban Remedy One-Day Cleanse Review

Disclaimer:  I purchased a one-day juice cleanse by Urban Remedy.  As always all opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.

If you have been reading this blog for a while you know I love juicing.  I typically juice on a weekly basis but this past weekend was a little different.  We were headed out of town to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday and it wasn’t going to be any ordinary celebration.  We had a big shindig planned with a “This Is Your Life” theme.  So since we were travelling last weekend I figured bringing along bottled prepared juice would do the trick.

As you can probably guess – even though I purchased the one-day juice cleanse, I did not follow directions or drink it for a cleanse.  I ate what I wanted last weekend BUT bringing along this juice helped me stay fairly grounded in my eating and drinking this kept my nourishment consumption balanced.  I let my husband and a couple of friends try it too.  🙂

Here’s how it works if you are considering it for a juice cleanse.  They have several juice cleanse options including:  low glycemic, purify, super green, and refresh.  I purchased the Refresh Cleanse.  This cleanse comes with 6, 16 oz bottles of juice.  Each bottle top has a number on it which represents the order in which you drink the juice (i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.).  Since I was travelling I only purchased the one-day cleanse but you can choose how many days you want to do your cleanse ranging from 1 day all the way up to 30 days.  It defaults to 3 days.  At the time you place your order you determine what day you want it delivered.  I really like that.

Here’s their definition of an Urban Remedy juice cleanse

Our juice cleanses not only revitalize the body and mind, but they also repair previous damage with natural, nutritious ingredients. Rich in minerals and active enzymes, each colorful 100% organic certified juice cleanse is rich in the nutrients needed to satisfy cleansing goals with an energizing and delicious program of juices with lower sugar amounts than other brands. Also, our juices are truly delicious, prizing flavor as much as efficacy.

When it comes to a juice cleanse experience, every person’s body detoxifies differently. Depending on factors like diet and metabolism, Urban Remedy has a tailored juice cleanse for everyone. Regardless of a person’s natural proclivity towards detoxification, the point of a juice cleanse is to give the body a break from inflammatory foods like white flour, sugar and alcohol, while allowing the mind to focus on other important elements of life.

When you order the juice, they Fedex your package to you in tightly taped, cushioned box filled with rock-hard cold packs to maintain the juice’s freshness.   When I came home and saw my box I quickly unpacked the box and put my juices in the refrigerator.  Urban Remedy also recommends you order your juice to arrive the day before you plan to start your cleanse.

Glow Urban Remedy

GLOW was the first juice in the arsenal and it wasn’t bad.  It is low glycemic and NOT sweet at all so prepare your tastebuds.  I do like green juice especially with cucumbers so I found this juice to be refreshing.

Beet-a-licious Urban Remedy

Ahhh beets how I love thee.  I may be one of the few, but I LOVE beet juice.  It is so delicious and known to help with endurance activities like distance running as it nourishes the blood.  This juice was perfect.  It did not have too strong of a taste of beets and it has a NICE little kick from the ginger.  I didn’t want to stop drinking this one.

Flush Urban Remedy

I think FLUSH was my favorite juice of the bunch.  I love drinking lemons and mint in my juice and this has that and more so it is a very refreshing drink.  I drank this bottle in one sitting.

After Party Urban Remedy

I wonder who they made this drink for.  It’s called After Party as it is supposed to detox the liver and help with recovery from a night of drinking.  This juice was ok and had some of my favorites such as carrots, beets and ginger but it wasn’t that memorable.

Brainiac Urban Remedy

I woke up on Saturday and brought this juice down to Virginia with me.  My husband already drank half of the bottle and I let my friends try it.  They both gagged on it.  LOL.  Said it taste horrible but I finished the bottle and it wasn’t bad.  The problem they had with it is that it was not filled with sugar.  This is another one of the juices that is not sweet at all and it tastes pretty green.  But the gagging really?  Overreacting.  My husband and I enjoyed it.

Almond Milk Urban Remedy

Our friends tried this nut milk before me and they both gave it a thumbs up.  I finished off the bottle and have to agree – this taste like creamy vanilla ice cream.  It was subtle, smooth, nutty and filling.  I drank half the bottle and used the other half as the base for a green smoothie.  It was awesome!

I have to admit, if I were just drinking the juices I think I would have felt a little bit of hunger pangs.  I think partially because of my activity level.  I work out early in the morning between 5:30 am and 6:30 am and I run, lift, do calisthenics and aerobics.  I predict if I were doing a true juice cleanse I would have to cut back on that level of activity.  The day after drinking all of my juices I frequented the ladies’ room often.  Mostly first thing in the morning before we got back on the road headed back to Maryland.  I know TMI sorry.  LOL.

Order

You can order this or any of the Urban Remedy cleanses on their website at http://urbanremedy.com.

Rating

I give this juice 8 out of 10 stars.  The juices I liked I really liked and the ones that do not stick out in my mind were just ok.  I would recommend Urban Remedy for anyone who doesn’t want to juice or have the equipment to juice on their own.  They are constantly running specials so just get on their mailing list and they will immediately issue a 15% discount code good for only a day or so for your first order.

Urban Remedy offers way more than juice cleanses so head on over to their site and check out their inventory of raw, fresh goodies.  Bon appetit.

I can’t say I’ve ever tried a juice cleanse, but I’ve always been curious as to what the juices would taste like! 😛 Thank you for the breakdown!

I have tried a few other juice cleanses that I love – but it is always good to learn about others! Thanks for the honest feedback about which ones were memorable 🙂

I’ll admit, I’ve always been quite skeptical of having just juice and nothing else for a specified period of time. While I see that there are benefits to drinking the juice, I don’t see how it can be fulfilling enough to not need to eat something else. That said, I’ve never given a juice cleanse a try, so I could be completely wrong.

I have never tried anything like this. I am just afraid of being too hungry and not having any energy on just juice.

I always wanted to know about these juices. I juice at home and often go to Arden’s Garden if I don’t have time. I like the mail order option for busy moms or when your traveling and you want to ship it to your hotel. Great concept! #blmgirls

I like the idea of drinking the juices throughout the day but still eating normally – you’re right, it probably will help in making better food choices. I’ve never actually juiced, I make green smoothies bc I don’t have a juicer. But I’ve seen people use a blender then filter out the fibers…do you think one way is better than the other?

I’ve been curious about juice cleanses and have wanted to try one for awhile. Like you I’m not sure I could do just juice for a number of days. I would prob need to supplement with food like you did since I’m very active during the day!

I “cleanse” about 2/year and have found that I prefer a combination of whole foods and juicing.

You know I only do natural cleanses with fresh foods, ie. collard greens, but I like this honest review. I recently started drinking GTSKombucha teas and can’t wait to write about the results. #ProductReviewMom

Hi Stacie. Other than a Juicery I’m now aware of getting any of these in a brick and mortar.
