Ramblings of a Road Runner

That’s my newest race Bling Bling…compliments of completing the Baltimore Running Festival Marathon Relay on Saturday, October 13th with my Team Southern Soles! There were 27,000 people from around the country and 24 other countries out there getting their run on!!!  So much positive energy in the air from those who were running their very first 5Ks to those who were running to qualify for the coveted Boston Marathon!  The race started at Camden Yards and proceeded through Druid Hill Park and the Baltimore Zoo down to the Under Armour Headquarters around the Inner Harbor through Patterson Park over to Lake Clifton High School around Lake Montebello and back to Camden Yards for the finish!  PHEW!!!  The prize to the top finishers was $25,000!!!  I had a chance to chat with the Race Co-Founder, Senator Catherine Pugh, while cheering others on at the finish line and she told me that they started the race in 2001 with only one category and around 6,500 runners.  It has since grown by leaps and bounds in runners and into four categories:  5K, half marathon, marathon relay and marathon!  There is also a Kids Fun Run…truly something for everybody at this one!  For all the future FFFC runners out there, this race is definitely one to consider for 2013!
