FFFC:  Please introduce yourself to our readers.

RM:  My name is Rose Muniz, I am the Founder of Fit Snack, a Manager at a Global Consulting firm, and the Founder of Hope Connects (non-profit).

FFFC:  When did you fall in love with and start in fitness?

RM:  I have always been active.  Growing up in a farm town, I was was an adventure seeker from horse back riding, to neighborhood baseball and lots and lots of outdoor fun.  Through high school, it was sports, through college it was the gym, and when I was in my 5th year of business consulting (flying weekly), I realized that I needed something much more.

I needed a healthy life makeover.  I joined bikini body building and medalled 2X.  The goal for me, was to feel, look and experience a fitter me ALL the time.  Through it all, I learned that Fitness was only part of the puzzle.  The real opportunity was to replace everyday staples with nutrient dense food.  My passion became a blend of Fitness and Healthy Eating.

FFFC:  What is your typical workout routine?

RM:  Weight training using lateral plane movement exercises, HIIT Cardio, lots of city bike riding and lots of outdoor activities.

Example:

Day 1). Horizontal Press (pushups, bench press), Virtical Pull (pull ups, cable pull downs).  Knee Dominant Lower Body (squats, lunges, step ups). I typically go heavy low reps on lower body and lighter high reps on upper body.

Day 2).  Horizonal Pull (horizonal pull ups, cable row), Vertical Press (shoulder press, front raises).  Hip Dominant Lower Body (deadlift, hamstring isolators, kettle ball swings).

Repeat Day 1 & Day 2 = 4 Days per week (max).

Day 3). 10 min HIIT (warm up, treadmill incline sprint 8 incline, 8 speed (30 second sprint, 30 seconds rest repeat 8X, cool down) or 30 minute city jog with sprint intervals.

Day 4). Repeat Day 1

Day 5). Repeat Day 2

Day 6). Volleyball at the park

Day 7). Relax

FFFC:  What advice do you have for someone new to starting a fitness plan?

RM:  Start with a structured program that has a clear goal and end date.  This will help you to build a foundation & learn your way around the gym.  Examples are weight training competitions, triathlons or personal trainer.

FFFC:  Why did you create the Fit Snack Box?

RM:  I created Fit Snack because I wanted to start a company in the health and fitness space, that would serve as a platform to inspire a holistically healthy life.  Fit Snack is not just about the box and promoting tasty/healthy products, it is about combining nutrition, fitness and an inspired active lifestyle.

FFFC:  How did you come up with the name?

RM:  I needed a name that resonated with people who care about living fit, while being very clear that we are a healthy snack box. I played the name game for about a month and Fit Snack was the winner out of 100s of options.

FFFC:  How did Fit Snack come up with the wonderful idea to offer DJ-quality workout music along with the box subscription?

RM:  Music is one of the best ways to inspire a workout, proven to help improve performance.

These days most people workout to Pandora and the commercials can seriously interrupt a workout flow.  I love music and sharing the talents of our DJ and my good friend Jonny Fontana out of LA.

FFFC:  What wonderful surprises can people expect to find in their curated Fit Snack subscription box each month?

RM:  A nice mix of sweet, salty, crunchy and thirst quenching.  Ensuring that everything we choose is a healthier option than the typical grociery store snack. We love to feature lean protein, gluten free and paleo-friendly options.

FFFC:  How did you come up with the concept to buy water filters for Hope Connects with the purchase of each box?

RM:  I started Hope Connects in 2010 with my best friend who has 11 years experience in development.  The current project is a water filter project – allowing thousands to have clean water in areas where they otherwise wouldn’t.  Donating to Hope Connects was a no brainer because I know that 100% of proceeds goes to the cause.  Some months, I also donate to Feeding America because I like that between the two causes, we cover food and water.

FFFC:  What advice would you give someone who is on the fence about ordering a Fit Snack Box?

RM:  Life is short and healthy food can get boring.  Here is an opportunity to try new snacks every month that have been researched, taste tested and approved by our Nutritionist. Anita Muniz our nutritionist is also a personal trainer and is a great resource our customers can reach out to.

If you are on the go, it is especially nice to receive a box each month that you can depend on. With Fit Snack, you always get more value than you pay, so it will be more cost effective than buying the same snacks at Whole Foods or another Health Food store.  It’s worth a shot and if you decide it’s not for you or you need a break, you can pause or cancel anytime online.

FFFC:  How can someone order their very own Fit Snack Box?

RM:  Simply visit fitsnack.com/fffc and you will receive a gift gym bag with the purchase of any of our plans – on behalf of the lovely Femme Fitale Fit Club
