How To Get Lean With Protein

How to Get Lean with Protein

Disclaimer:  This post is sponsored by AllWhites but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Out of all the macros, a lot of attention tends to go to carbohydrates but one should not forget protein which is an extremely important macronutrient.  Protein is the building block of muscle.  And the more muscle one has walking around, ultimately the more calories one burns because muscle requires more calories to maintain than fat.  That means lean muscle burns more calories at rest than fat.  That’s why we as women definitely want to get our protein in.

Some of the wonderful benefits of protein as it supports weight and fat loss are:

  • Helps you feel fuller longer
  • Helps rebuild and repair muscle so you get more toned and stronger over time

You may ask how much protein is needed to support weight and fat loss.  It really depends on your activity level.  If one is sedentary then .4 grams of protein per pound of body weight is sufficient.  If one is strength training to build lean muscle then .8 grams of protein per pound of body weight is needed.  And women, don’t be afraid to lift heavy to build lean muscle.  You won’t look bulky, you will actually be toned and shapely.

Protein can be found in lean cuts of meat such as poultry, eggs, fish, whole grains, nuts as well as beans.  My favorite source of protein is eggs.  I also like convenience and quick and AllWhites 100% liquid egg whites is not only convenient, it is pasteurized for safety, free of cholesterol and low calorie (25 calories per serving) because it contains 100% real liquid egg whites.  Because it is pasteurized you can also enjoy AllWhites uncooked in food like smoothies, salad dressing, desserts and shakes.  You can check out the plethora of recipes you can use it with HERE.  You can also head HERE to learn all you ever wanted to know about protein.

We are all busy and consuming the required amount of protein daily may seem daunting but I highly recommend one’s first meal of the day contain ample amounts of protein especially if one has just finished working out.  If your mornings are anything like mine, it is go go go but I have a delicious breakfast recipe that is easy to make in less than 10 steps with only 4 ingredients.  It’s my go to when I am crunched for time.  I call it my “Better Than Fast Food Breakfast Sandwich”.  Try it and let me know what you think.

Ingredients

  1. 1/3 cup AllWhites Liquid Egg Whites
  2. Whole grain English muffin sliced and toasted
  3. 2% cheddar cheese slice
  4. Handful of fresh organic baby spinach

  • Pour AllWhites Liquid Egg whites in pan
  • Add fresh organic baby spinach to egg whites
  • Cook the eggs until done and remove from heat

I’m vegetarian, so I eat tofu and beans along with some vegan burgers/meat substitutes as my primary protein sources.
