In The Gym with Anowa Adjah

Anowa Adjah

FFFC:  Please introduce yourself to our readers.

AA:  Hello my name is Anowa Adjah. I am a Master Trainer/Fitness Instructor and the CEO of Powerhouse Physiques, LLC.

FFFC:  How did you get started in fitness?

AA:  I have been involved in Athletics for a majority of my life. I have participated and competed in Basketball, Track & Field, and Field Hockey. However, my mother was also an athlete and actively involved in fitness which played a huge part in my endeavors.

FFFC:  Why did you make fitness your career choice?  How?

AA:  Because of being heavily involved in the Athletic and Fitness arena for so many years it seemed like an organic transition. For years many people inquired about what I did to stay in shape and after many requests I decided to take heed to their questions.  I loved fitness and so it just made sense to make it a career. In addition, there were no women of my stature and build in the Fitness realm therefore I felt my influence would be groundbreaking.

FFFC:  How do you balance making time to get in your workouts with the demands of your career and personal life?

AA:  Scheduling is extremely important when you manage a business and 2 children. I try my best to get my workouts in 3-4 times a week in between my crazy work week. The most important thing to keep in mind is that things will not always be perfect. Sometimes I can’t always train for an hour so if I only have 30 minutes to workout I make the best of it!

FFFC:  How would you characterize your body type?

AA:  I would consider myself  curvy fit ! Even though I’m over 200 pounds I am still toned, curvy, and in shape.

FFFC:  What is the biggest misconception about your body type?

AA:  The biggest misconception about my body type is that it is unhealthy. According to our current weight charts I am considered obese but as you can see those charts are outdated and highly misleading.

FFFC:  What is your favorite exercise routine?

AA:  If you have my workout DVD, “Full Body Curve Down”then you are familiar with my low impact yet high intensity routines which happen to be a favorite of mine.

FFFC:  What do you consider the most useful workout equipment?

AA:  You can do a lot with 5-10 pound dumbbells or a medicine ball.

FFFC:  What general tips do you have for the average woman trying to balance family, career with a fitness lifestyle?

AA:  Scheduling and preparation is the key to balancing your  family, career and fitness lifestyle! I always prepare my meals for the week and prepare all my children’s clothing, etc. on Sunday. Therefore if anything dramatically intervenes with my normal day then I am still able to eat and have the children’s things prepared. Take it one day at a time!

FFFC:  Do you have any words of wisdom to share with our readers who struggle with poor eating and drinking choices and habits?

AA:  I always say to my supporters and fans  “Prevention is your best medicine.”! Don’t wait until your problem has become a condition to solve it! If you are not trying to live the best days of your life than you are doing a disservice to yourself and the people that love you. The choices you make today will affect you for the rest of your life!

FFFC:  Do you have any new projects or programs you would like to share with us (i.e. DVDs, tours, challenges, shows, etc.)?

AA:  Yes I am currently doing a Powerhouse Physiques Tour which is going to various cities and instructing classes on my upcoming DVD “Lose The Gutt, Keep The Butt”! I also do a Powerhouse Physiques 30-day challenge every month where the winner receives a prize. All you need are the Powerhouse Physiques DVD combo and our free meal guide and workout schedule!

FFFC:  What would you say is your biggest career accomplishment to date?

AA:  I would say creating my first line of Powerhouse Physiques Workout DVDs which includes: “Full Body Curve Down”and “Plyometric Pump”!

FFFC:  How can our readers find you on the web and learn more about your services?

AA:  All they have to do is log onto www.AnowaAdjah.com or check out my social media: Instagram: Anowa Adjah, or my facebook.com/NigerianPowerhouse
