It’s that time again – Friday Five. This week’s theme has to do with Spring Forward: what five things am I looking forward to this Spring. Of course I am relating this to my fitness so check out what I am anticipating starting this Spring season.
This link up is sponsored by Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Cynthia from You Signed Up For What? and Mar from Mar on the Run! Their fitness and running blogs are awesome so make sure you head on over and check them out.
Spring Forward #1: I have the Iron Girl Half Marathon this April and while I haven’t been training like a champion like I should – I still plan to run it. There are no refunds and I have friends who will be participating with me but when I commit – I follow through. I also love the energy of the crowd.
Spring Forward #2: Losing this Winter weight I gained. Oh my goodness – I have been hibernating or something. It just seems unreal. I have NOT been as active due to a knee injury which you all have read about here, but this is getting ridiculous. I so want to get back to the slim trim me I was this time last year. This Spring I have to get my mind right. I just can’t stand walking around with this extra weight.
Spring Forward #3: How am I going to lose this extra fat? Sanders Optimum Fitness boot camp of course! He is tough but you get results. That is the only way I see myself getting rid of these extra inches! If you are in the Baltimore area I highly recommend it. Monte and his staff are GREAT!!!!!
Spring Forward #4: I can’t wait for Spring Break! Not really fitness related but it is. I have been so stressed at work, this break is just what I need to balance things back out. Every year I drive down with my children and hang out at my mom’s house for the week. It is a week of relaxation and fun. The kids have fun with grandma and Pop Pop and I get a break from the kids! LOL!!! Since my mom lives close to Charlotte, NC I visit college buddies. Oh yes, bring on Spring BREAK!
Spring Forward #5: Running again with my outdoor running crew. The treadmill is great but I have learned over the past year – running outside is even better. It challenges you in ways the treadmill just can’t. I can’t wait to hit the pavement – once all of this snow and ice melt! Can you believe the Winter we’ve had this year?

All these things sound great! I’ve had an knee injury too and haven’t been able to run but I am looking forward to riding bike outside!

My husband keeps talking about getting me a bike but I just haven’t bitten the bait. I am still pondering the idea. Knee injuries are a drag aren’t they?

I totally understand the need to get off the treadmill and back outside! I can’t even imagine going through a winter with all that snow. I’m in Texas and I have only had a handful of days where I am forced inside and it’s awful. Hope it melts and warms up for you soon!!

Thanks Sarah! I am hopeful Spring is around the corner and I can get back out there and run up and down these crazy hills in Owings Mills. Thanks for stopping by!

Hope your weather gets better soon! I totally feel you on the winter weight. I somehow managed to gain a bunch of it even though I missed most of winter by moving to Santa Barbara lol.

Amanda it can be so discouraging but that is not a problem – I am just even MORE determined!! 🙂

Oh, I see now that you are running the Iron Girl half (I asked you a question on my blog). You will do great – just stay focused and keep going. That boot camp looks fun! I love boot camp style classes. Perhaps it’s the Navy girl in me. Good luck, I’m excited to hear about your progress!

Thank you so much. Sorry about not responding Michele – I was at work and had a gang load of meetings in the afternoon. TGIF!

I’m so excited for the time change! Granted I love how light it is in the morning right now but it means we are getting closer and closer to warm weather (I hope!). Good luck at the half!

Winter weather is welcome to leave anytime now. I’m definitely ready to spend more time outside and less time on the silly treadmill!
DSTPRL March 8, 2014 (9:40 am)
I’m so with you Kathryn. I was out there this morning and almost slipped twice.

I have gained some Winter weight too but we didn’t have a Winter here in Socal so I don’t have an excuse for the weight gain. I joined an 8-week fitness program that focuses on HIIT type workouts and am excited to see my results at the end of it!
