Sophia Marose - ShiShiBody

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Sophia. I currently work as a Global Program Manager. I enjoy serving God, spending time with my family and friends, volunteer, decorating, even love to dance Kompa (Haitian Music)

What sparked your weight-loss transformation journey?

All my life I battled with my weight. I even remember at 9 years old I was drinking slim fast. I remained a steady weight at 140s-150s in my 20’s and early 30’s but had poor eating habits. Recently in 2016 I was diagnosed with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis (Both Auto Immune) disease and everything about my health changed from there.

What was your beginning and current weight or measurements?

210lbs, today I am 166lbs

How long did it take for your weight-loss transformation from beginning to end?

I started with my trainer officially September 2017 and continued with him until May 2018; I continued on my own since then, lol so a total of 10 loooong months

Which physical activities did you participate in during your journey?

I tracked and burned at least at least 500 calories doing cardio whether it was on the treadmill, elliptical, or StairMaster I made sure I did a full nonstop 500 cals burned. I also do HIIT workouts and on days I just don’t want to even see the gym I jog.

How did your eating habits change?

Wow…. now this is where my lifestyle change. I am big foodie especially being Haitian…. I can eat! I went from eating rice and chicken/pork/meat, to a pescatarian to now a full Vegan 🌱.  I no longer eat rice at all. I use cauliflower rice and also do meatless recipes.

What do you typically eat for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner?

Here is the big factor, my trainer introduced me to Intermittent Fasting and I never looked back. I do 16/8 hour window period of eating, therefore my first meal of the day typically is around 1 pm I would have a soup, or vegan meat with salad or cauliflower rice then my last meal will be around 7 pm and by then I am so full from the day.   I would low glycemic fruit like blueberries or raspberries.

What is your favorite fitness activity?

I have absolutely NONE. Lol I can honestly say I do not like or enjoy exercising at all but If I really have to choose what I don’t mind doing it will be planks and sit ups and also afrobeats dance classes.

What do you do now to maintain your physique?

Intermittent Fasting through eating Vegan and Plant based diet and cardio.

How did you develop and sustain the willpower to avoid the bad stuff (i.e. junk food, bad drinks, lack of activity, etc.)?

I take many pictures of my current body and do side by side comparison to my beginning weight for motivation. Also, knowing I come from a family generation of high blood pressure and other health ailments I knew I had to shift my generational bloodline. The buck stopped here! That was my willpower, my purpose was bigger than me.

What advice do you have for someone looking to get started with their fitness journey but not sure where to begin?

The journey starts with the renewal of your mind and you need to be clear on your WHY? Why, are you doing this? Why now? You have to mentally strengthen your love for yourself and your will power to continue cause there will be times you will be rooting and cheering for yourself and days where you want to just give up. Your journey is yours no need to rush or compare your results with others. Tunnel Vision your fitness journey. Do not go hard on yourself and always feed yourself loving words to your spirit and body.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about this journey?

That it’s easy that it took a short time to see results… lol nope and that you can still eat whatever you want as long as you exercise….. nope

Do you have any fitness inspirations? Who are they?

Yes its Massy Arias and Training4mylife

How can readers learn more about your transformation and journey online (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)?
