5 Natural Ways to Manage Stress

Who here is feeling pressure from stress?  I can attest from my own experience negative stress isn’t fun.  It makes you anxious, emotional, unhealthy and unhappy.  I have been working to reduce and better manage my stress level naturally so let me share some of what I found to be extremely effective.

5 Natural Ways To Manage Stress

 Exercise

Every time I am under stress and go exercise I feel 100% better.  The issue stressing me out doesn’t seem as big, my body is happy because the workout I completed has it feeling better and my stress level and anxiety is reduced.  That is nothing but a plus and a win for me.

Sleep

Stress wears me out and I get fatigued.  When I listen to my body and go to sleep, things doing seem as stressful the next morning.  My mom always told me that whatever I was worrying about wont’ seem as problematic the next day so sleep on it.  She was right.

Eat healthily

Stress can be the cause for high blood pressure, high sugar and other things that doesn’t do a body good so when you’re feeling stressed don’t reach for the cookies (high in sugar), chips (high in salt) or ice cream (high in fat and sugar), snack on fresh fruit, vegetable sticks or berries.  Green leafy vegetables, oatmeal, yogurt, and blueberries are known to manage anxiety hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.

Meditation

I used to meditate when I was in undergrad before taking an intense exam and it worked.  It calmed me down, cleared my thoughts, helped me to focus and I was able to better concentrate during the exam because it calmed my nerves (I tend to get nervous taking tests even when I studied diligtently).  I highly recommend meditation to help manage your stress.

Take Natrol 5-HTP

Natrol 5-HTP is a drug free, plant-derived mood enhancement supplement that easily dissolves in your mouth without water (so no pill swallowing required).  It works naturally because it stimulates calmness throughout the body by increasing serotonin levels which your body produces naturally to enhance your mood.  I’ve taken it before a busy and hectic day and must say it worked for me.

All of the above except the supplement. I also use Bach’s stress spray that I carry in my bag. Seems to really help.

Stress can be a bummer, and can come from so many directions. I destress by walking, removing myself for some quiet, and even taking a nice shower helps me,

Love these! One thing to add to exercise is to go into with the end goal in mind and choose forms of exercise you enjoy – going into exercise with a negative mindset toward it (example: “God I HATE the treadmill”) actually releases more cortisol (stress hormone) and does more damage than good.

Hi there Diatta, I love how you advise on dealing with stress. Most of us, give themselves a hard time just sitting there and letting the stress eat up their head. Since I started with meditation some three years ago, I can’t remember a day that I was pinned down with stress. Just clear your head with some meditations. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

That’s awesome Cindy. I used to deal with it but no more.
