Well well well – the FTC has finally caught up with a few of these companies making outrageous claims about quick fat-loss plans designed to help people burn fat and lose weight QUICKLY.  This time they have hit these companies with a whopping $34M in FINES!  I’m not going to get on my soapbox or rant but I will simply say there is no quick way to losing weight and maintaining the weight loss.  You must work hard, eat right, get enough rest and stay hydrated with water.

There’s no magic dust you can sprinkle on your food that will give it super hyper metabolic power and rev up yours AND be safe.  Let’s look at some of the excerpts from the article shall we?

“The website promises you can lose weight without dieting – all you have to do is sprinkle “Sensa” on your food like salt and pepper. But it’s a false claim, the Federal Trade Commission says.”

FFFC:  I am sure we have all seen SENSA ads on television and in Target.  It is that little white box with the smiling people and a measuring tape showing us all the amazing inches they lost simply by using SENSA like salt and sprinkling it on our food.  I have never tried and ever planned to but how can you believe this claim in the first place?

“This is the second-biggest deceptive advertising settlement in FTC history,” Jessica Rich, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, told a news conference.”

FFFC:  We have heard it before – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Don’t get sucked in by this JUNK!

“The chances of being successful at substantial weight loss just by sprinkling something on your food, rubbing creams on your body or just using a supplement, well, they’re slim to none.”

FFFC:  No pun intended eh?  But this article is on point!  Don’t fall for the okey doke.

The article lists a few common outrageous claims consumers should stay away from.  Check it out:

Lose weight without diet or exercise! “The only thing you’ll lose is money,” the FTC advises

Lose weight no matter how much you eat of your favorite foods! “Losing weight requires sensible food choices,” the FTC says.

Just take a pill! “Doctors, dieticians, and other experts agree that there’s simply no magic way to lose weight without diet or exercise. Even pills approved by FDA to block the absorption of fat or help you eat less and feel full are to be taken with a low-calorie, low-fat diet and regular exercise,” the FTC notes.

Lose weight with our miracle diet patch or cream! “There’s nothing you can wear or apply to your skin that will cause you to lose weight,” the agency says.

FFFC:  Don’t get sucked in folks.  You will never find Femme Fitale Fit Club promoting these concoctions or wild claims!  We believe in losing weight the old fashion way – working up a sweat and EARNING that shower.  I hope you found this article helpful and steer clear of these snake potions.  It isn’t anything but modern day snake oil.

What is the wildest diet fad you have tried?

Not to mention that I’m sure we’re not the only ones who got stuck paying for another month or two of Sensa after our free “trial”. My daughter thought she would surprise me and order the free trial, which I had seen but passed on due to my previous experiences with free trials that ended up sticking me with fees for product I didn’t want. Yeah, Sensa did that. I called several times, and the last time was actually put through to a supervisor. After talking to her for a bit, she told me her computer just went down and took my cell number, promising to call me back after the computer was back up. I never got a call back from her, and my daughter never did get her $45 back. Don’t trust their “free trial”

WOW Linda – I am so sorry to hear that happened to you and your daughter. This stuff just isn’t worth it. PLUS you do not know what type of harm it may do to your body long term. Just go the all natural way.

But the people in the ads were so happy and skinny! LOL. I haven’t gotten into many fad diets, except a time in college that I tried the Special K diet- a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a bar for lunch and then anything I wanted for supper..gave up after day 2! I didn’t even have energy to exercise!

Thanks for hosting the link up!

Thank you for participating. It sounded fishy when I first heard about it. Who knows what this stuff is doing to your body too.

This reminds me of some of the Facebook ads I’ve seen lately for some “magic” product. After seeing it over and over again I had to click on the link to the website they claimed had supported them and when I got there it looked just like Shape magazine’s site, but none of the links worked. Below the ad post hundreds of people were asking where they could get the product and describing how they needed it. It made me feel so sad. Glad the FTC is involved in this one and hopefully more soon! As a personal trainer I can tell you that on average you’ll learn 0.5-2lbs a week if you’re eating healthy and exercising. Any product that claims to do more is LYING!

I think the “sprinkle on your food” one is the wildest I’ve heard! Crazy what people will make themselves believe just in an attempt to skip the work of losing weight.
Thanks for sharing this at the hop!

I always thought that it was a scam. I’m glad the FDA finally exposed them to the public.
