Do I have a doozy for you today. Today I am sharing an exotic recipe I received from RawSpiceBar, which is a premium spice subscription service, and let me tell you, it had my children eating their vegetables and it will have yours eating theirs too.
First let me tell you a little about RawSpiceBar because I find their service amazing! For $6 a month they scour the world to find the most exotic and delicious spices to send to you in a premium spice kit. Before they deliver to you, they toast the spice, blend with other spices to make it uniquely their own, ground everything up and then deliver direct to your door in small batches.
Not only that, each premium spice kit comes with the ground spices, the list of the ingredients PLUS a bonus, recipes using each of the spices they just sent you. I love trying new recipes and this is just what I needed. I have always liked trying international food so getting international spices to change up how I prepare chicken, vegetables and beef is something I really really like.
Now on to the recipe. I used the September 2015 RawSpiceBar kit received which was an Istanbul theme. For videos and recipe ideas it directed me to http://rawspicebar.com/september-istanbul-spice-box but I used the recipe card it came with to make this dish.
Tools:
Ingredients:
- 1/ cup flour
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs (recipe called for pita breadcrumbs but I could not find it)
- 1 large head of cauliflower
- 3 eggs
- Kosher salt to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Cut cauliflower into large florets
- Mix the spices, panko breadcrumbs and salt in a small bowl
- Beat eggs and slowly add flour until well mixed
- Dip each cauliflower into egg mixture to coat then roll in breadcrumb spice mixture
- Place in baking dish
- Repeat until all florets are breaded
- Bake for 30 minutes or until tender
- Serve as a side dish
- Watch your family eat it up and ask for more
Additional thoughts
The Za’Atar Cauliflower dish was very tasty. The spice wasn’t overbearing but gave it a nice slight nutty flavor. The Za’Atar spice is made up of 5 spices (thyme, sesame seeds, oregano, salt and sumac) so there’s nothing “strange” there. Just a combination you may not have necessarily thought to put together yourself.
I was very happy with how this side dish turned out especially because my family loved it. This dish and RawSpiceBar gets two thumbs up from me.

Oh wow, what a great idea for a subscription box! I’m going to have to look into their site. I have something similar for tea and I love it.

Za’Atar Cauliflower looks really good! I have the spice in my pantry. Because I am veg, I would use an egg replacement. I am always excited when someone posts a cauliflower recipe – I never know what to do with it.
