Please introduce yourself to our readers.
What’s up, Fit Fam! I’m David Girton …Son to a wonderful Mother, Friend to the most awesome people in the world, Wellness Warrior, Boot Camp Instructor, Personal Trainer, Believer in optimism, positivity and self-improvement.
How did you get interested in fitness?
I’ve always been active – through my youth it was every sport from kickball to football …from there I gained an interest in working out with weights while stationed in Greece during my Air Force years – this was the beginning of discovering my passion …I began reading everything I could get my hands on that spoke to health and wellness – others began to notice my passion and asked that I help them transform and that was pretty much the birth of a second career. I could not get enough of helping people – the satisfaction from seeing people lead Stronger lives is such an empowering thing!!!
What prompted you to make this your career?
Did I answer that above? 🙂
What do you like most about what you do?
Helping people lead Stronger lives …reducing/eliminating medications, seeing confidence grow, watching bodies change, capturing goals [from running 5ks for the first time to triathlons to being able to outrun their children].
What is your favorite exercise routine?
I just LOVE exercise …but if you asked our Fit Fam, they would loudly proclaim anything involving the mighty BURPEE. 😉
What do you consider the most useful workout equipment?
Your body. It’s the most amazing piece of equipment ever created!
What do you think is the biggest misconception about this field and what you do?
People miss out on the science of it all – from building the right nutrition plan to creating an effective and efficient workout.
What general tips do you have for the average woman balancing family, career with health and fitness?
Never make excuses for not treating yourself better! Sure, you’re going to have bad days – they come and they go …the goal has to be about the journey of living Healthier and Stronger day by day! If that means 10 minutes of exercise after settling the kids in or hitting Boot Camp before they wake up …YOU HAVE TO MAKE TIME FOR YOU! And you have to Eat Smart on purpose …that means having a plan and putting it into action …Drink more water, eat more veggies, keep stress to a minimum, exercise regularly, visit the doc and get plenty of rest.
