Homemade spaghetti sauce

For years my hubby complained about my spaghetti sauce.  I normally use the jar from the grocery store and add a little Italian seasoning along with a bay leaf.  He frequently complained that it was too runny and did not have enough red sauce.

With the power of my Vitamix blender, I made a homemade sauce that was to DIE for.  It was saucy, thick and very flavorful.  Best of all, it was more homemade than the store bought jar variety and very easy to make.

Wanna see what I did?  Here it goes.

Equipment needed:

1.  Blender

2.  Pan

Equipment used:

1.  Vitamix Turbo Blend 2 speed blender

Ingredients:

3 cups tomatoes peeled and quartered

1 medium onion

3/4 cup tomato paste

1 garlic clove peeled

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

salt to taste

1/2 teaspoon sugar or honey

Instruction:  Place all ingredients in the blender in the order listed.  Turn blender on low speed and blend for about 15 seconds.  Everything should be finely blended with no lumps of tomato unless you like your sauce chunky.

Cook your spaghetti sauce as usual and pour over pasta.

Gather ingredients

Dinner is served.  This photo doesn’t do it justice.

Bon appétite!

Let me know how you like to make your spaghetti sauce.
