In our online fitness accountability group there has been a lot of talk about detoxing with the ACV Detox Drink. From Dr. Oz, Dr. Axe or JJ Smith it is something that many are interested in doing to lose weight, burn fat and lose their extra belly.
While all of that is good here are 5 tips to help you as you do it so you get the results you want.
What is ACV?
ACV stands for apple cider vinegar which is vinegar made from apples. They squeeze the juice out of apples, extract the sugar and ferment it with alcohol. The alcohol is converted into vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar is touted as having several benefits including:
- Helping to curb appetite
- Lowering blood sugar levels
- Enable weight loss
Now that you know what it is, how it is made and some of its benefits here’s how you can get the best results from taking the ACV Detox Drink.
Don’t Drink It Straight
Make sure whatever you do you dilute it. It is highly acidic and should not be taken straight. When you drink it take 1 TB to 2 TB of it with at least 4 oz or 8 oz of water or whatever liquid is recommended in the recipe you are following. When taken straight over a period of time it can impair the enamel on your teeth and once that is gone it is gone. It can also damage your esophagus so DILUTE.
Don’t Mix It
It is not a mixer to be blended with green smoothies. Green smoothies are alkaline so why add acid to that? Plus it won’t taste good and it won’t speed up the results of the ACV on weight loss or belly fat.
Whether you are following recipes by Dr. Axe, Dr. Oz or JJ Smith just go by the recipe. Don’t get fancy or creative because they developed the recipe to work a certain way. Also take it for the length of time recommended in the recipe. Again, going overboard with it won’t speed up results.
Take the ACV Detox Drink for the recommended time and then take a break. Our bodies naturally detoxes with the help of our lungs, kidney and liver via breathing, sweating and using the restroom so we do not need to detox as much as we think unless we are living in a highly polluted environment or eating the wrong foods each and every day. Take it easy with this.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, exercising at least 30 minutes, 3 to 4 times a week (minimum) and eating healthy and nutritious meals while drinking the ACV Detox Drink. It will give you an edge on fat burn as long as you are already doing the right things to burn body fat. If you think sitting around drinking this ACV Detox Drink and being inactive and eating junk food will give you results you are sadly mistaken. It won’t.
