Positive Effects of Fitness On Your Wellbeing

Fitness in this context can be explained to be the ability of the body to remain in good health, to be able to do our day to day activities without undue fatigue and remain physically fit.

Common components of fitness and wellbeing include; muscular power, muscular strength, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular power, flexibility, speed, balance and body composition.

Below is the importance of fitness to one’s wellness and wellbeing.

Fitness helps to control weight

measuring your waist

Well, when you constantly exercise, you have little or no risk in getting too fat. This is because you will constantly be losing the excess fat or maintaining the weight you already have.

For you to lose more, you need to exercise more.

The amount of calories you want to burn depends on the intensity of the work out. You actually do not need a lot of time to keep fit; approximately two hours a day is enough.

It is not the duration that matters, but the intensity and consistency in keeping fit. Also, keeping fit involves feeding on the right diet; not only food but also with fluids.

Grapefruits, green tea, avocado oil, salmon, bean, yogurt, tuna, soup, almond and leafy vegetables are among the top list of items you should feed on when keeping fit to maintain or lose weight.

Decreases the risk of diseases

When you are exercising, you are decreasing the risk of getting diseases and improving your wellbeing. Especially those diseases associated with the heart.

These diseases include; stroke, type two diabetes, obesity, depression, High blood pressure, osteoporosis, breast cancer and colon cancer.

As told above, fitness involves proper eating. That is, avoiding fast foods and high cholesterol foods.

That means that one should concentrate on foods such as vegetables and fruits to keep off heart diseases as well as keep up with cardio exercises.

Fitness helps build social connection

When you are working out, especially in a gym, you get to interact with so many people; both male and female it improves your wellbeing.

Even when you are jogging around the estate, either early in the morning or late in the evening, you get to meet many people. Some could actually join you hence gain a new connection.

For some, you could just end up talking in the line of fitness and end up building friendship.

This kind of interaction is very important because as you all do the same thing, you get to involve each other, exercise together and watch the right diet together.  All of this has a positive effect on your wellbeing.

Increases mental and social well being

Fitness is the most effective way to increase or improve mental wellness. It is in fact the best way to cure depression and curb anxiety.

Not only that but also it boosts your mood, improves memory and relieves stress. The more you exercise, the better you sleep at the end of the day, the more relaxed you feel and the less depressed you become.

This is because exercising promotes neural growth in the brain and reduced inflammation hence the calmness effect.

Moreover, it promotes production of endorphins (strong chemicals in the brain that boost your spirit).

The best thing about fitness is that it makes you confident about yourself. Once you know that you have been working out and have been consistent about it, you begin to boost your esteem.

This comes about when you have lost a few pounds and you are seeing the results of your fitness commitment. Even when standing in front of a congregation, you feel confident more than the others because of how fit you are.

And of course a better physique gives you an upper hand also as people will complement you.

Strengthens muscles and bones

When you are exercising either through running, swimming, cycling, playing football, playing basketball, walking, bending side to side, rolling plank exercise or aerobics, you are strengthening your muscles.

The movements that you make help in strengthening the muscles and bones too. This also comes about when you are stretching. Stretching before and after exercising is very important because as much as it strengthens bones, it helps you not to strain your muscles.

Easy exercises such as crunches; twist crunches and side crunches really help to strengthen stomach muscles. In return, the belly fat is burned and hence a flat stomach.

Exercises like squats help in toning the thigh muscles as well as all the body muscles.

Great article. I found that for my aging parents, physical activity is a top priority for maintaining their quality of life. After retiring and moving to FL they took up pickleball. Apart from being low-impact, there is a great social aspect – they’ve got a whole new circle of friends now- and that is another critical part about aging, keeping socially active and engaged to ward off loneliness -which has lots of negative effects.
