Hey Fitness Family!!! It’s been a while since I’ve featured a #FitnessFriday but no time like the present eh? Typically during this segment I do a recap of my workout for the week OR feature an awesome fitness product or what have you. I’ll share my workout from this week but I also want to share some other exciting things going on.
Before I recap my workout this week let me say I discovered a new social media platform called Periscope and BOY oh BOY is it fun. I’ve only done a handful of “scopes” but I plan to do more to interact more with you all. What is Periscope you ask? It is a new social media platform one can download for FREE from the Apple or Google stores. It allows you to broacast live to your followers on anything. The great part about it – it is interactive so folks watching can ask questions real time and get an answer.
The other fun part about it is the viewers tap the screen to give “hearts” which are the currency that boosts the broadcaster’s channel. If you would like to follow me on mine feel free to get Periscope for FREE and find @FemmeFitaleFitClub and click FOLLOW. Also leave a comment below letting me know which topics in health and fitness you would like for me to discuss because while I am sure it is fun to just get on there and talk – I want it to be informative and meaningful for YOU.
Due to my day schedule I more than likely will sign on around 7 pm ET throughout the week but be sure to follow me on INSTAGRAM @FemmeFitaleFitClub because I will announce there when I plan to sign on and broadcast. Isn’t technology fun?
I was on vacation this past week in Cancun, Mexico and had a blast! Not only did I swim a little in the pool I also dipped my feet in the ocean. Due to the roughness of the water and all of the seaweed I didn’t spend too much time in there but the water felt great.
We stayed at the Iberostar Cancun which is a resort on the island with a bunch of activities for adults, children and teens. We arrived on Sunday and Monday morning I got up bright and early to welcome the day. I put on some of the workout clothes that I brought with me (see below) and headed to the gym at 7 am with the hubby.
I am so bad, we arrived bright and early and all 3 of the treadmills were occupied and I was annoyed. I really thought I would get at least 10 minutes of cardio in before my lift session but that didn’t happen. Also the gym did not have a fan and we were in Mexico so it was a little “warm” in there.
Nonetheless we were there to work so hubby and I went to work. He hit the chest press bench and I secured my own bench and started in on the hand weights. Here’s the workout I did.
Believe me when I say this workout had me walking funny the rest of my trip. I used 2-20 lb and 15 lb weights in this workout because I wasn’t playing plus I have been working out enough that that weight pushes me. Whenever I do step ups or squats of any kind I always get sore so no surprise there. Try this workout and let me know how it works out for you.
I sat around the pool and ate so not much working out here but I did walk around a lot according to my Fitbit but I still didn’t hit my 12K a day goal.
We visited the ancient Maya temple Chichen Itza and it was AMAZING!!!! Since this was an all-day tour you can imagine we walked and walked and walked some more. It was exhausting but well worth the 3-hour drive. Even with all of that walking I still didn’t hit my 12K a day goal.
We headed back home Thursday and I only ate breakfast and didn’t eat all day until we landed on the other side in Maryland so that is a big no no when it comes to good eating habits. Also with all of the transferring planes, going through customs in and out….I still fell short of 12K steps a day. I must do better.

Here are the outfits I took with me on my trip. I only wore 1 outfit. 🙂
