It’s that time of year where folks pledge to do bigger and better. I am not immune to this movement as I have ideas and thoughts about how to make 2014 an even bigger and better year than last year. See, for me bigger and better isn’t necessarily a physical size. It is a statement for me that says I want to do MORE, be MORE to MORE people and live MORE.
I sat for a minute or 2 in silence and created my own set of goals for this year. Resolutions are great, but I need tangible goals…SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time specific). In other words, these goals can’t go on eons and eons.
I would like to share my 2014 goals with you and would love if you would leave a comment to share yours with me/us.
- Spend more time with God
- Read my bible daily
- Get more active in my local church
- Pray daily
- Spend more quality time with family
- Volunteer in their schools
- Stay active on the PTA
- Take them on staycations
- Take a family summer vacation this year
- Eat dinner at the dinner table Monday – Thursday
- Cook in more, eat out less
- Initiate family game night
- Increase my fitness
- Drink less wine
- Drop body fat by 13% to 20% from my current 33%
- Stay physically active a minimum of 5 days every week between weights and cardio
- Complete my first half marathon within 2 hours and 30 minutes
- Study for my personal trainer certification
There you have it. It isn’t a long list and I definitely believe it is doable. I have already started doing some of it before the new year even started. Either way, 2013 has taught me that my family is extremely important to me and I allowed other things to take precedence which can not continue in the future. My children are young (6 and 11) and need me. I continue to devote time to this blog but I can’t continue to spend hours upon hours at work, checking work emails, etc. because it takes away from my children and they have started to notice and voice it to me.
I plan to share my progress with you all – the good, the BAD and maybe even the ugly. I think if you see a real person going through real things it will show you that YOU can do whatever you set your mind to. It may not always be pretty but if I can do it you can do it too!
I am so happy to share my goals with you because not only can I not let me down, I don’t want to let you down either.
I would love it if you would leave a comment and share your goals. We can help each other stay accountable.
Until next time – TOODLES!
