Vitamin E was first discovered in 1922 during one research carried out by Katherine Bishop and Dr. Herbert Evans. Later in 1936, Dr. Evans separated alpha-tocopherol, beta-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol. This finally made the researchers announce vitamin E as an antioxidant in 1968.

The naturally found vitamin E is the collection of fat-soluble compounds having unique benefits and characteristics. The eight chemical compounds present in naturally found vitamin E are –

  • Alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-tocopherol
  • Alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-tocotrienol

Out of these eight forms, researchers have observed that only alpha-tocopherol is used by humans for health benefits.

           4 to 8 years – 10.4 IU or 7 mg/day

           9 to 13 years – 16.4 IU or 11 mg/day

  • For Adults –
  • Females above 14 years – 22.4 IU or 15 mg/day

Pregnant females – 22.4 IU or 15 mg/day

Breastfeeding mothers – 28.5 IU or 19 mg/day

  • Males above 14 years – 22.4 IU or 15 mg/day

Vitamin E is necessary to keep you young and healthy.
