The ‘HangTighter’ Fitness Community is on all major social networking sites, all with a common interest of fitness and health.
FFFC: How did you get started in fitness and working out?
HTWM: My love for fitness, health, and wellness has grown to great extents over the past several years. In my former years I ran track, ran cross-country, but for the majority of my career played soccer. Due to my abundant injuries (see below) I don’t have a choice but to stay active and healthy. Fitness and working out are the two things that make me the happiest, mind, body, and soul.
FFFC: What is HangTight with MarC all about?
HTWM: My mission is to positively change the lives of my HangTighters through all things in life by Getting Tight (workouts), Feeling Tight (diet tips & recipes), Style Tight (fitness and health tips, along with reviews of new products on the market), & most importantly Seeing Light (God’s Word), and continue improving my health and fitness goals to make HangTight with MarC a success.
FFFC: Why did you start HangTight with MarC?
One day I got fed up, in a friendly way, of people asking me the same questions day after day. I then decided to start in my living room with a camera and yoga mat! For the first year I provided all body weight workouts for persons to do at home. In the second year I started introducing weights to my workout routines to teach others how to work out with weights.
FFFC: Why did you make fitness your career choice? How?
HTWM: Being healthy and fit is the only way to live and feel your best, therefore I couldn’t resist making it a habit and career.
FFFC: How do you balance making time to get in your workouts with the demands of your career and personal life?
HTWM: I have a #Noexcuses mentality when it comes to working out. I work out first thing in the morning, which allows me to be structured the way I am. Besides being a very disciplined person I NEVER dread working out—it’s the highlight of my day. As a matter of fact working out, eating, and sleeping are my favorite things to do each day, in addition to my family. Therefore, I put working out high on my list, and this allows me to do all the demands of your career and personal life because I feel my best from the inside out.
FFFC: What do you like most about what you do?
HTWM: Getting others in shape and seeing their results. Along with watching my progress over time getting stronger and more fit to showcase to others.
FFFC: What is your favorite exercise routine?
HTWM: HangTight with MarC style workouts, HIIT, Tabata, AMRAP, EMOM, Time Challenge, and Yoga
FFFC: What do you consider the most useful workout equipment?
HTWM: Your body for bodyweight exercises, dumbbells and a workout mat.
FFFC: What do you think is the biggest misconception about this field and what you do?
HTWM: That you need to workout for hours on end. With HangTight with MarC style workouts you can get in the best shape of your life simply by working as hard as you can for 4 minutes (aka Tabata style training) up to 30 minutes doing one of my longer HIIT workouts.
FFFC: What general tips do you have for the average woman trying to balance family, career with a fitness lifestyle?
HTWM: Decide which one on the list matters most and prioritize based on that. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Everyone’s body is different and you have to embrace what God gave you. However, you will have to work hard to get the body you want. I’m in my 20s and I workout harder than ever because I know if I don’t my body wouldn’t be where I want it to be.
FFFC: Do you have any words of wisdom to share with our readers who continue to struggle with poor eating and drinking choices and habits?
HTWM: Visit the Feel Tight tab of the HangTight with MarC website for ideas and tips on what I eat. Also, if you sign up for the HangTight Fit Package (link provided below) I give you tips each week to stay on track. The biggest suggestion I can give to someone is to hop on board with HangTight with MarC Feel Tight Lifestyle Challenges, done monthly. I challenge my community each month to a Lifestyle Challenge (aka diet challenge) to keep everyone on track. The biggest success has been a long time follower of mine that went from a size 16 to a 6. Visit the HangTighter tab to see for yourself!
FFFC: Do you have any new projects or programs you would like to share with us (i.e. fitness programs, boot camps, shows, etc.).
HTWM: 2015 Atlanta Bootcamp and workout sessions are on!
FFFC: What would you say is your biggest career accomplishment to date?
HTWM: Uniquely, my background consists of obstacles I still have to overcome such as sports injuries and surgeries on my toe, knee, and hip. My most recent injury and surgery as of August 2013 has been a foot injury from running in the Vibram Five Finger shoes in 2010. I’m still recovering from that injury to date. I feel this is my biggest career accomplishment, because if I didn’t tell anyone what I’ve been through they’d never know. Why? Because I strive to keep my body in the best shape as my lifestyle.
FFFC: Who is your fitness idol?
HTWM: Hmm my dad, former marine. Inspired me to always stay in shape.
