It’s on like Donkey Kong folks (did I just write that and show my age?) with this DietBet challenge. But it is – we are about to get this challenge started with some real die-hard challengers who are ready to do this.
Monday, July 14, 2014 is the official start date of our challenge and to date we have 26 folks signed up rearing to go. Here’s what I hope to gain from this challenge.
1. I want to lose the 4% of my current body weight. I’ve been going IN on my eating lately and that has got to stop or all of this hard work in boot camp or at the gym will be in vain.
2. I want more definition in my arms and shoulders. I know that sounds very vain but I do. I am lifting heavier and heavier weights but just looking at my arms and shoulders you can’t tell.
3. I want flat abs. I know what the deal is with this – I have been overindulging in SUGAR in the form of soft drinks and not watching closely what I eat making sure there aren’t extra calorie-ladened sauces, etc. in the food. If this challenge does what I am hoping it does, my waistline should be flatter in 28 days.
Before folks get riled up about this focusing on just weight-loss, this is NOT a starvation challenge. The DietBet referees will disqualify anyone if they lose too much weight too fast because that is not what this is about. I for one know I have excess weight (I can fee the little tire around my waist when I sit down) and it isn’t muscle…it is excess FAT.
So for me, it is definitely additional weight due to fat, I do not need. The other challengers have joined the challenge for a plethora of reasons too besides simply losing weight. We know that is just one measurement of fitness success but there are many many others like getting stronger, building lung strength, strengthening your heart and developing endurance (just to name a few).
