Giving Back is Never A Waste of Time

Everybody…listen up (I feel like I have been shouting that all day today)…you know what I did today?  Shared time with a bunch of enthusiastic and beautiful Pre-K and Kindergarten children from the Baltimore City School system.  The event was hosted by the Sanders Optimum Fitness organization called “Healthy City Days 2012“.

We met them at Port Discovery a Children’s Museum here in downtown Baltimore.  They won this outing because they had excellent school attendance.

If you know Baltimore City then you understand this is an amazing feat and these children earned this fun morning.  I volunteered to work with them along with approximately 10 other volunteers and we had a ball.  I got to run, jump, hop, and slide vs. sitting behind a desk in yet another meeting.  It was amazing!

I looked at the little faces and they all reminded me of my own 5-year old.  People asked how I had so much energy…because I have 1 of them at home with me and I have to keep up with him.  LOL.  The activity started at around 10:30 am and before we could finish our first set of ladders with our group of 25, 2 children walked up to me telling me they were hungry.  Working out is no joke and does have your body respond wanting to be fed.  They were good kids, they stuck it out a little longer (5 more minutes) and then got to rotate to the next station.

When you give of your time you may go in thinking you are giving something to them but they are really giving something more to YOU!  And if you can incorporate fitness in the mix?  Why you can’t lose.

Why not consider organizing a fitness event in your city, school or district?  I promise you won’t regret it.

I’m 3rd from right with blue shirt.

That’s great that you are giving back. I do that with giving out free training sessions.

Wow that is amazing. Monte Sanders also offered up 2 sessions for free for the individuals currently enrolled for this session.
